Identifying the relationship between changes in vegetation indices and the anthropogenic activities in the tropical Semarang City of Indonesia using space imagery

Abstract The existence of vegetation in the watershed area as a function maintaining continuity process soil infiltration, erosion resistance, and landslide resistance is essential. Studies that measure through index parameters by utilizing optical-based satellite imagery maps, well radiometric waves or Radio Detection Ranging (RADAR), have been widely carried out. However, attempts to test it formulate into resilience indices on scale functional areas such watersheds are still challenge itself. In this study, was measured looking for spatial change patterns from Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) Soil-Adjusted (SAVI) 2015-2021. This pattern associated with anthropogenic factors represented dynamics changes housing population distribution. use residential land obtained interpretation maps Google Earth sources mitigated administrative boundaries villages. statistical data village’s same year. index, residential, inhabitants were examined Spatial Autocorrelation (SA) using Global Moran’s (GMI). Finally, indices, residentials inhabitant conducted correlation analysis determine relationship between these parameters. results GMI indicate tendency towards dispersion NDVI SAVI, which showed linear decline dry season but weak incline wet season. trend also occurs inhabitants, showing high confidence level (R 2 =0.9171 R =0.5872 inhabitants).
